Let us look for a moment at dreams. When we are in deep sleep our conscious awareness is subdued, for all intents and purposes we are hibernating within and peace is experienced but we are not aware of the experience, only upon waking do we reflect back on the peace and say that we slept well. Yet we have another experience in sleep called dreaming when the mind begins to vibrate a little faster than deep unconscious sleep and that is where we have visions from our subconscious mind playing on the screen of our consciousness. The mind is essentially meditating, while the subconscious mind’s pent up desires to create has morphed into pictures to describe the way it is feeling.
However, in sleep there is no controlled focus because we are not consciously lucid in the dream state but with practice we can develop a more active participation in the dream state and break through to the astral and casual planes. To become more aware in our dreams, we need to understand these dream pictures. Not from the perspective of what they are about or the why of them but more of the how of them the intention that caused them.
We can intend when we go to sleep to see something in our dreams or to wake up at a certain time. What is the intention being created and projected on to our conscious mind while we are completely in a dimension of nothingness? Much of this has to do with our own undiscovered intention, that is going on without our true understanding as with the dreams we create. By developing awareness and our active daily participation with intention our relationship to the outside world will change. The dreams we have now are just another way for the mind to remove our true Self from what the mind is experiencing in the day to day life dimension.
By changing our perspective of how we view the day, which requires a shift in our consciousness so that we see all possibilities all potentiality so that we actually feel the connectedness of our consciousness with the direction of life in the cosmos, that all of the infinite impossible to understand galaxy of seeming chaos is really focused on supporting life. The darkness that holds this universe and all universes has provided life with all it needs to grow and survive be pleantyful and joyous but for our minds perspective.
When it is possible to live in the potential of blessing for this life can we change the thought patterns of the dreaming mind so that the subconscious mind will automatically be reflecting dreams that support this understanding rather than dreams of sex, deception, fear and unfulfilled desires.
Please consider that in deep sleep we fall into a nothingness dimension, that best describes the dreamless sleep that we all go into each night. When we come out of the dreamless state we are expressing the innocent perception of our true consciousness. Yet this expression does not last throughout the day. Because from the moment we stub our toe on the bed post on the way to the bathroom we are back in the world of our learned barriers and four letter words. We can consciously change that learned pattern through mediation and expand awareness in our lives so that we do not lose connection with the inner self. This will change the intent of our unconscious dreams.
Understand that sleep is a form meditation, there is no religion associated with it yet it is a ritual undertaken by all living beings. Therefore, meditation is universal but the results of meditation have some need of description because of the conscious nature that is taken to control the mind. To simplify, the expression when coming out of sleep, and the expression when coming out of meditation is one of peace and even universal connectedness with all. The more one practices meditation the greater the expression of compassion, love, forgiveness and justice from our daily contact with life’s trials.
By wrapping our dreaming mind with our meditating mind so that the states experienced are simpatico, we are using the most of our short time in this physical life. The Self that exists behind the dream visions, behind the goals and trials of life is the blank screen that the mind uses to reflect it visions be they apparent or unapparent in the mind. The great Jhani Yogi Ramana Maharshi, had no dreams for he was forever in the Self.
Let us take the time to be aware to practice connecting with our true Self throughout the day and night, to relax the fluctuations of the dreaming mind when awake and when asleep by constantly focusing on our intention. There will we find the point of life that is true cosmic consciousness expanding into the infinite. Where heretofore we were completely unaware, but by retraining the minds perception of our life’s the true nature, knowledge of the Self comes into expression and we are forever anchored to life.
